The hotels drop off point is through the portcullis and around the turning circle. Whilst our turning circle’s surface is gravel there is a paved pathway leading into the hotel and reception.
Our staff are trained in disability awareness and are available to assist you with any reasonable request.
Should you require and assistance with luggage, please contact reception prior to your arrival where a member of staff will be happy to help.
Reception is accessed via a corridor following from our paved pathway. The corridors and pathway are all 900mm wide. There are two small steps leading into reception and a portable ramp for wheel chair users is available for ease of access.The flooring in reception is made stone slabs and is level throughout. The area is well lit with a mixture of lamps and wall lights and natural light.
The lounges in the hotel are located on the ground floor where the surfaces are a mix of level wooden flooring, polished stone floors and short pile rugs. Our corridors are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair with the narrowest doorway being 820mm.
The lounges feature a mixture of seating arrangements with low level coffee tables (500mm) and seating ranging from soft deep cushioned to straight back chairs and sofas. There is also a high level table with window seating in our Library which can be reserved as a private dining area. Please request this option when contacting our reservations team.These areas are well lit with a mixture of lamps, wall lights and natural light.
The hotel has ladies toilet situated on the first floor landing and gentleman’s toilets are located on the ground floor. Access for wheelchairs is restricted in the gentleman’s toilets, however our accessible room’s facilities can also be used. Where possible, we reserve this room, to accommodate customers requiring wheel chair access or those with reduced mobility.
Our gardens can be accessed via pathways around the hotel. These mainly comprise of stone/paved paths although there are also a series of gravel pathways. There are also tarmac paths which lead to the rear of the hotels gardens from the main car park. The main lawn has a slight gradient down away from the hotel, although this remains accessible.
Our restaurant is located on the 1st floor and the surface is short pile carpet. We can provide dinner service as private dining in our Library or Great room, for those with reduced mobility or wheel chair users.
Full waiter service is provided at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary needs.
The menu is printed and can be verbally presented or provided in large print if required.
Winchelsea is situated on the ground floor. The room is well lit with ceiling spot lights, table lamps and natural light from the windows. The doorway is 670mm wide. The floor is short pile carpet and tiled in the bathroom.
The bathroom comprises of an open level access shower with a portable seat and grab rail, a toilet (400mm high) ,washbasin (840mm high) and bath (570mm high).
In order to safely evacuate, we will need to conduct a personal emergency evacuation plan on arrival to understand your specific requirements. Should evacuation be necessary, our alarm will sound continuously.
